Goody QuikStyle
I was given the Goody QuikStyle Paddle Brush to try out. According to the packaging and their website, the Quik Style Brush, with it's absorbent microfiber bristles, removes up to 30% of water as you style.
I was excited to try out this product. I have seen it in the stores and wondered if it would actually work. According to the package, it is designed for "detangling wet hair, quick removal of excess water and styling with or without a hair dryer." The microfiber bristles are antimicrobial which will inhibit the growth of mold or mildew.
I tried using this brush with and without my hair dryer. I didn't do a scientific study to see if my hair actually took 30% less time to dry. I thought about...but decided against it :) I did notice a slight difference in the amount of time it takes to dry my hair.
Now the average person loses about 100 strands of hair a day. Yuck! I seriously thought about counting each strand in this beautiful wad and then thought I could spend that time doing something a bit more productive. Anyway, I really, REALLY think it did a sub par job with the whole detangling thing. Perhaps Goody should just relabel the packaging and just talk about how it will dry your hair faster.
So here's the question...I received this product for free so would I actually spend my own money on it? Ummm, nope...and I have a few reasons behind my answer.
1. I have very thick hair and a very tender head - I do NOT want to put my hair through that detangling process again.
2. I lost a lot of hair and I think part of it had to do with brushing my hair when it was wet.
3. I hardly ever use my hair dryer, which they suggest using to aid in the drying process.
4. I have naturally wavy hair and when I do brush my hair after a shower it loses the nice waves and just makes everything very fluffy.

Ta-da! |
Now the packaging says it is designed for detangling wet hair. Ummmm....I don't think so. Honestly, I rarely brush my hair when it is wet. I have read once that you actually break the hair shafts and can damage your hair by brushing it when it is wet. I don't know if that is true BUT I went ahead and followed the package directions. After just a few swipes through the brush I found this lovely surprise waiting for me!
Yeah, that's gross...I know. |
